Description
This recipe for gluten free beef stroganoff is creamy, savory, and comforting without any flour. With both sour cream and dairy-free options, it’s perfect for weeknight meals or special comfort dinners.
Ingredients
1 lb beef sirloin strips or ground beef
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
2 cups gluten-free beef broth
1 tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot + 2 tbsp water
½ cup sour cream or dairy-free sour cream
1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
1 tsp gluten-free Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Gluten-free noodles or mashed potatoes for serving
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add beef and brown. Remove and set aside.
2. In the same skillet, sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add mushrooms and cook until browned.
3. Pour in beef broth and bring to simmer.
4. Add cornstarch slurry. Whisk until sauce thickens.
5. Return beef to pan. Simmer for 5 minutes.
6. Turn off heat. Stir in sour cream, Worcestershire, and mustard if using.
7. Serve hot over gluten-free pasta or mashed potatoes.
Notes
You can use ground beef instead of sirloin for a faster version.
For a dairy-free alternative, use full-fat coconut cream or almond-based sour cream.
Slow cooker version: combine all ingredients (except sour cream and slurry) and cook on low for 7–8 hours. Add thickener and cream in the last 30 minutes.
